05 · One Platform

From your driveway to a 360 kW corridor hub.

Most home chargers stop at your garage. MÖTEN doesn't. The Aquila on your wall runs on the same eMÖTEN Charger Management System that powers fleet depots in Brazil, corridor stations in the UAE, and DC fast hubs in North America. One ecosystem, one engineering team, one platform.

Same software

One app for everything.

The eMÖTEN app you use at home is the same one fleet operators use to manage 200-port depots. Schedule, monitor, balance loads, export utility-rebate reports — same UI, same firmware channel, same support team.

Same standards

Commercial-grade hardware.

NEMA 4 / IP55 enclosure, −22 °F to 122 °F operating range, OCPP 1.6J & 2.0.1 native, UL Listed and ENERGY STAR® certified. The same protections we put on a charger at a public hub go on the one in your garage.

Same supply chain

Manufactured globally.

Same factories, same QC, same component sourcing as our commercial product line. Shipped to 17 markets across six continents — including the regions most residential-only brands won't touch.

Same engineers

Real engineering support.

Your home charger is supported by the same engineers who diagnose a 360 kW corridor station at 2 a.m. Phone, email, portal — and the eMÖTEN platform tells us what's wrong before you do.

Same platform, every scale

06 · Install Basics

Installed in a day. Honest.

Most installs take a licensed electrician 3–5 hours. Here's exactly what they do, why it's needed, and what you should expect to pay your local pro.

01

Panel Check

Electrician confirms your main panel has 60 A spare capacity (Taurus / Aquila) or 100 A spare (Dorado). Most modern 200 A panels do.

~30 min · No charge
02

Permit Pull

They file a quick electrical permit with your municipality (required in most jurisdictions for any new 240 V circuit). Usually $50–$150.

1–3 days · Filed online
03

Wire Run

Conduit and 6 AWG (Taurus / Aquila) or 4 AWG (Dorado) copper run from panel to your install location. NEMA 14-50 outlet or hardwire junction box.

2–3 hr · Most cost is wire length
04

Mount & Test

Charger mounts to wall (anchors and template included), Wi-Fi pairs with the eMÖTEN app, electrician completes city inspection sign-off.

~45 min · You're charging
Before you order

A 60-second self-check.

Confirm these four before checkout. If any answer is "no" or "I don't know," our team will help — call or chat us before you buy.

200 A main panel? Look at the breaker stamped at the very top of your panel.
2+ open breaker slots? Charger needs a double-pole 60 A or 100 A breaker.
< 50 ft from panel to charger? Longer runs are fine — just affects wire cost.
Wi-Fi reaches your driveway? Aquila and Dorado need it — extender works fine.
07 · Rebates & Incentives

Up to $1,000+ back on your charger.

MÖTEN home chargers are UL Listed and ENERGY STAR® certified — so every model qualifies for the U.S. federal 30C tax credit (30%, up to $1,000), plus most state utility rebate programs. Federal and state credits stack.

Two things to know about the 30C credit: 1. Census-tract requirement. The 30C credit only applies if the charger is installed at a residence in an eligible low-income or non-urban census tract. About 2 of 3 U.S. addresses qualify — check yours at anl.gov. 2. Sunset deadline. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill (signed July 2025), the 30C credit ends for property placed in service after June 30, 2026. Install before that date to qualify. We are not tax advisors. Consult a tax professional for your situation.
UL Listed & ENERGY STAR® certified — every model qualifies for the U.S. federal 30C credit.
OCPP 1.6J / 2.0.1 compliant — meets the technical bar for nearly every utility rebate.
Itemized invoice & rebate paperwork included — most utilities reimburse within 6–10 weeks.
Stackable. Federal + state + utility programs combine — many homeowners net the charger free.
08 · Frequently Asked

Questions, answered straight.

Nine questions we get from homeowners every week. If yours isn't here, our team replies to chat in under a minute during business hours.

01 Which MÖTEN home charger is right for me?

Pick Taurus ($450) if you want the simplest possible setup — no app, no Wi-Fi, just plug your EV in and walk away.

Pick Aquila ($450) if you want app control, scheduled charging on time-of-use rates, and solar matching. Same family as Taurus, far more capability.

Pick Dorado ($1,350) if you have a 100 A circuit available and you want the fastest possible Level 2 charge — up to 19.2 kW on 80 A. Only useful if your EV's onboard charger accepts 80 A (Ford F-150 Lightning, Hummer EV, Lucid Air do).

All three chargers are 30C-ready — UL Listed and ENERGY STAR® certified, which meets the equipment side of the federal tax credit. Whether you personally qualify depends on your address and tax situation. See Rebates for the full eligibility test.

02 Do MÖTEN home chargers work with Tesla and other NACS vehicles?

All MÖTEN home chargers ship with a SAE J1772 (Type 1) connector — the standard for non-Tesla EVs in North America.

For Tesla and other NACS-equipped vehicles, our NACS-to-J1772 adapter is sold separately as an accessory. The adapter is universal — it will work with any J1772 charger, not just MÖTEN — and it lives in your vehicle's frunk.

03 Do I need an electrician to install a MÖTEN home charger?

Taurus and Aquila are plug-in chargers — if you already have a NEMA 14-50 outlet on a 50 A circuit (most newer homes do), you can plug them in yourself. If you don't have that outlet, you need a licensed electrician to install one.

Dorado is hardwire-only on a 100 A circuit and always requires a licensed electrician and an electrical permit in most jurisdictions.

04 Is there a monthly subscription or app fee?

No. The eMÖTEN app and our patented Charger Management System (CMS) are included with every MÖTEN charger — no monthly fee, no per-port fee, no cloud subscription.

This matters most as you scale. Many commercial networking platforms charge $200–$500 per port, per year for cloud access. With MÖTEN, the same software that runs your home Aquila also runs a 200-port fleet depot — at no incremental fee.

05 What's the warranty on MÖTEN home chargers?

3 years on the charger, 1 year on accessories like the NACS adapter and pedestal. The 3-year warranty covers parts and labor for manufacturing defects.

Extended warranty plans (5-year and 7-year) are available at checkout. See our full warranty terms for details.

06 How fast will a MÖTEN home charger charge my EV?

Taurus and Aquila deliver 11.5 kW on a 48 A circuit, which adds about 35–45 miles of range per hour. A typical EV goes from 20% to 80% overnight.

Dorado delivers up to 19.2 kW on an 80 A circuit, adding about 60–75 miles per hour. This only matters if your EV's onboard charger supports 80 A — most don't.

07 Can I install a MÖTEN home charger outdoors?

Yes. All MÖTEN home chargers are NEMA 4 / IP55 rated for outdoor use, with operating temperatures from −22 °F to 122 °F (−30 °C to 50 °C). Dorado extends down to −40 °F.

Cable holsters and weatherproof gaskets come standard. The chargers handle direct rain, snow, and salt spray — though we recommend mounting under a soffit or small overhang where practical.

08 Does MÖTEN qualify for the federal 30C tax credit and state rebates?

The hardware does — every MÖTEN home charger is UL Listed and ENERGY STAR® certified, which meets the equipment requirement for the federal 30C credit. But two more conditions apply for the credit to actually fire:

1. Eligible census tract. The charger must be installed at a residence in a low-income community census tract or a non-urban census tract. About 2 out of 3 U.S. addresses qualify — look yours up on the official Argonne tool.

2. Placed in service by June 30, 2026. Under the One Big Beautiful Bill (signed July 4, 2025), the 30C credit ends for property placed in service after that date. Install before the deadline to qualify.

Most state utility programs are separate and don't have the census-tract test — California (PG&E, SCE, SDG&E), New York (NYSERDA, ConEd, NYSEG), Massachusetts (Eversource, National Grid), Colorado (Xcel), and many others offer charger rebates that stack with the federal credit. See your state's programs.

We are not tax advisors. Consult a tax professional to confirm your eligibility.

09 Where are MÖTEN home chargers manufactured? Does that affect the 30C credit?

Taurus, Aquila, and Dorado are manufactured in China to our specifications, with quality control, certification, and warranty service handled in the U.S. by EVFastCharge Ltd. (Wilmington, Delaware).

This does not affect 30C eligibility. The federal 30C credit requires the equipment to be used primarily in the United States — it does not require domestic manufacture. The Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) restrictions added by the One Big Beautiful Bill apply to other clean-energy credits (45X manufacturing, 48E energy storage, 45Y/45Z electricity) but not to 30C.

Our patented Battery-Buffered DC fast-charging systems and the eMÖTEN Charger Management System are designed and assembled in the United States — relevant for our commercial customers but separate from the residential 30C credit story.
