MÖTEN commercial Level 2 EV charger — workplace, fleet, and public charging hardware
Commercial Level 2 · 4 Families · 36 Configs

Commercial
Level 2 charging.
Two paths, one platform.

Four families. Two business models. One OCPP backbone.

Charge as a benefit for employees, residents, and fleets — or charge as a service for retail customers and parking guests. Same hardware quality, same OCPP backbone, same free CMS for life on every MÖTEN charger.

02 · The Decision

First, one question: do you charge for it?

Every commercial Level 2 buying decision starts here. Charging as a benefit and charging as a service look similar from the parking lot — but the firmware, certifications, and ROI math are completely different. Pick the right path and the rest of the decision tree gets simple.

Path A · Non-Monetized

Charging as a benefit.

Power is a perk you provide. Authenticate users — don't bill them.

Pick this if you operate…
  • A workplace, head office, or campus offering employee charging
  • A multi-family building, condo, or HOA serving residents
  • A fleet depot — last-mile, transit, municipal, school bus
  • A government / institutional site (hospital, university)

Path B · Monetized

Charging as a service.

Drivers pay you per kWh, per session, or per minute. You set the rate.

Pick this if you operate…
  • A retail store, mall, or grocery — drive customer dwell-time
  • A parking garage, surface lot, or paid-parking facility
  • Hotel, restaurant, or destination hospitality
  • A municipal site or branded charging network operator

03 · The Four Families

Standard or premium.
You choose.

Each path comes in two tiers — a standard family and a premium family. Premium adds touchscreen, RFID, advanced load management, and 80 A configurations. Both run identical OCPP and eMÖTEN firmware.

Non-Monetized · Path A 18 SKUs · 6 configs each family
Monetized · Path B 18 SKUs · 6 configs each family
04 · Configurations

Six layouts. Pick your port density.

Every family — BOÖTES, LYNX, DRACO, PHOENIX — ships in the same six hardware configurations. Pick the layout that matches your parking design, then the family that matches your monetization model. Available across all four families.

07 · L2 vs DCFC

You don't always need DCFC.

DC fast charging gets the headlines, but for the vast majority of commercial sites — workplaces, fleets, multi-family, retail with dwell time — Level 2 is the right answer. 10× lower cost per port, no transformer upgrade, and dwell time covers the kWh gap. Here's the math.

Commercial Level 2

L2 — this page

Best for sites where vehicles dwell more than 30 minutes.

$1,100
From per port
11.5–19.2 kW
Power range
208/240 V
No transformer
~5–8 hr
Full charge
  • Existing electrical — most sites have spare 208/240 V capacity
  • Permit in days, not months — no utility coordination required
  • 10× more ports for the same CapEx as a single DCFC stall
  • Lower demand charges — gentler on utility billing
DC & Ultra-Fast Charging

DCFC

Best for highway corridors and short-dwell retail (under 30 min).

$25k+
From per port
30–360 kW
Power range
480 V 3-Φ
Often new transformer
~20–60 min
10–80% charge
  • Permitting + utility coordination — typically 3–9 months
  • Civil works (concrete pad, conduit) — $10k–50k extra
  • Premium revenue per session — $10–30 vs $2–6 on L2
  • Highway corridors and short-dwell sites where speed matters most
Figures reflect North American commercial deployments. Cost per port, civil works, permitting timelines, and per-session revenue differ in each of the 13 countries we serve. Visit your country page for regional project economics, or contact our team for a site-specific feasibility note.
Choose L2 when

Dwell time covers the kWh.

  • Vehicles park 2+ hours (workplace, MDU, hotel, mall)
  • Fleet recharges overnight at the depot
  • You need 8+ ports and a single utility service
  • You want to ship and energize within weeks, not quarters
  • Budget is constrained — port density matters more than speed
See L2 families
Choose DCFC when

Dwell time is short.

  • Highway corridor — drivers stop 20–40 min
  • Quick-service retail (gas station, convenience, fast casual)
  • Fleet midday top-up between routes
  • Public charging where higher per-session revenue justifies CapEx
  • Site has spare 480 V 3-phase capacity — or upgrade is funded

08 · FAQ

Common questions.

Eight questions we hear most often from commercial buyers. Don't see yours? Reach our commercial team.

What's the difference between monetized and non-monetized commercial chargers?
Non-monetized chargers (BOÖTES, LYNX) are designed for sites where electricity is a benefit — workplaces, multi-family buildings, fleet depots. They authenticate users by RFID or app but don't take payment. Monetized chargers (DRACO, PHOENIX) include payment hardware and integrate with payment networks for retail, parking, and hospitality sites where charging is sold as a service. The hardware is closely related but the firmware, certification, and payment-tap rating differ.
Are MÖTEN commercial chargers OCPP compliant?
Yes. All four commercial Level 2 families (BOÖTES, LYNX, DRACO, PHOENIX) ship OCPP 1.6J compliant out of the box and are firmware-upgradable to OCPP 2.0.1. This means you can connect them to any OCPP-compliant charger management system — eMÖTEN, ChargePoint as a Service, EV Connect, Driivz, AmpUp, and others — without vendor lock-in.
Do I have to use MÖTEN's CMS, or can I bring my own network?
Either works. The eMÖTEN Charger Management System is included with every MÖTEN commercial charger and includes payment processing on monetized SKUs. But because all four families are OCPP 2.0.1 compliant, you can also connect to any third-party network. You're never locked in to one platform.
What payment methods do DRACO and PHOENIX support?
DRACO and PHOENIX support credit card tap (NFC), mobile wallet (Apple Pay, Google Pay), RFID fleet cards, and app-based payment via eMÖTEN. PHOENIX adds a 7-inch color touchscreen with on-screen payment confirmation. Both families are PCI-compliant when used with eMÖTEN payment processing.
Do MÖTEN commercial chargers support the NACS (Tesla) connector?
All commercial Level 2 chargers ship with SAE J1772 (Type 1) connectors. NACS-equipped vehicles charge via our NACS-to-J1772 adapter, which can be issued to drivers as a fleet accessory or stocked on-site. A native-NACS variant is on our roadmap for late 2026.
What configurations are available?
Six per family on 48 A models (single, single + retractor, single + pedestal, dual back-to-back, dual side-by-side, dual wire-management). LYNX and PHOENIX add another six on 80 A. That's 36 total commercial Level 2 SKUs from the lineup. The configuration determines port count and cable management — the family determines monetization and feature tier.
What's the warranty on commercial chargers?
3 years parts and labor on the charger, 1 year on accessories like retractors and pedestals. Extended warranty plans up to 5 and 7 years are available, including service-level agreements with on-site response times. eMÖTEN CMS is included with every MÖTEN charger.
Are these chargers ADA compliant?
All commercial Level 2 chargers meet ADA reach-range requirements when wall-mounted between 15 and 48 inches AFF, or pedestal-mounted with the included ADA-spec pedestal. PHOENIX touchscreens include screen reader and high-contrast modes for visually-impaired users.
